 At St Francis Xavier, we strive for all of our children to pass the phonics screening tests so that they have secure foundations in reading as they progress into Year 2 and up the school. For our children that have not passed, due to individual need, we ensure that they continue to get the high quality input and intervention that they need to develop their phonics skills as quickly as possible. This is achieved though Individual learning plans, high quality adaptive teaching and by ensuring our staff, all the way up to Year 6, are trained in teaching phonics!
